Welcome Classmates!

A Little Reunion Humor

Two ways of looking at things!

My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I
kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a
nearby table.

My wife asked, “Do you know her?”

“Yes,” I sighed. “She’s my old girlfriend. I understand she took to
drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she
hasn’t been sober since.”

“My God!” said my wife. “Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?”

We know you’ve been waiting with baited breath for this website to launch. Well, wait no more.

As time goes by, we’ll add a few old photos from the yearbook and make you guess who is in the picture. Maybe we’ll get some of you to send us a memorable story or two to post on the website and give us all a chance to reminisce. And, if anyone’s inclined to send a current picture that they don’t think looks at all like their high school self, we can post it and run a contest for the first right guess. But that’s later.

For now, the sole purpose of the website is to ask your help in finding classmates we haven’t heard from, and to begin a dialogue around the possibility of a 35th Class Reunion in 2008.

We’re using addresses from the 20th Reunion directory to send out postcards, and some of you have been helpful by providing information for classmates with whom you’ve stayed in contact over the years. Unfortunately, we’ve only got confirmed contact information on about a third of the class so far.

If you haven’t sent us your email and snail mail addresses yet, please email them to carol@simpller.com.

Take a look at the list of classmates we haven’t contacted yet, and if you know where any of them are, please email us their contact information or direct them to the website so they can send it themselves. Some may have received postcards, but we haven’t heard back from them. We want to exhaust every option in trying to find people who may be interested in reconnecting.

We’ve included two other tools to help get the conversation going.

First, there’s a page with a brief, 3-question multiple-choice survey for you to take. {Click Here} We simply want to gauge whether or not there’s sufficient interest to undertake this mammoth task of organizing a class reunion.

Second, this is a blog where we can just get reacquainted with one another. Anybody can start a string, and we’ll just see where it leads. We probably need to keep some level of decorum in our comments, so keep that in mind.

We hope this note finds you all well and enjoying that stage of our lives we never realized would arrive so quickly – our 50’s!

Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

  1. Carol, Beth and Roger,
Thank you so much for putting this together. We so look forward to getting together with MTP classmates. I printed a copy of the “lost” people and will do what i can to try to find some of them. If thereis anything else I can do please let me know. I am often in the Wilmington area visiting my mother. (Roger- Mike will be in town 4/15 for two weeks, if interested in getting together with him let me know.) Looking forward to it! Patty

  2. [Bells clanging & whistles blowing] – Patty (Richeson) Reichert wins the Badge of Courage as the first non-administrator posting on the mtp73 website. Patty, make sure we give you a door prize when we finally pull off this shindig! OK, who’s next?

  3. Thank you all for getting our reunion together. I have sent in 6 (lost)emails to Carol. I do not see them on the main list . I will email Carol, again.
Please count on me to help in any way,
    Melody

  4. Great job on the website. I sent the link to two friends on the MIA list and encouraged them to contact Carol.
    Regards,
    Terry

  5. We’ve gotten about 20 leads on missing classmates since launching the website, and it’s great to know that those networks have lasted throughout the years. It’s been a lot of fun chatting with folks as they write in to give us their email addresses. Thanks for all your enthusiasm!

  6. Carol, i went to classmates.com last nigth and sent out quite a few emails to people listed. I will continue doing that as time permits.
as for the door prize, no need. Save the money to get mailings out and plan for this shindig. Happy to help.

Thanks for starting toget this information out. I have been wondering when we would have another reunion!
If there is anything that I can do to help. Just let me know.

  8. How are things going? We truely need to get something going. Even if it is just meeting at stanleys or Belvue Park. I have a pavillian in my neighborhood here at the beach that I can reserve. We have thrown many a happy festivities there, Including my 50th birthday bash. I am not sure what is available up in Wilmington. But if we do not reserve soon we wont be able to up there. Any ideas?

  9. Looks like nothing is going to happen this year. Only 50 something people out of over 400 have responded. Very poor response. With summer fast approaching I think this thing is dead.

  10. Beth, Roger, and Carol,

We need to say that the horse is dead. How about a default plan to meet at Stanleys? I’m suggesting Saturday August 2 at 6:00 PM (It’s enlightened self interest on my part because I’ll be in Virginia the previous week but I’m not inclined to travel from AZ just for a get together at Stanleys).

  11. Hey lubby,

You think that I’d be driving up from Florida on my own dime for a 2 hr get together at Stanleys? I think that’s not going to happen!!! Especially with the price of gas, getting a hotel and time from my job. Not to mention “draggin” the 4 kids along. No way, either it’s a big bash with alot of people or I’m staying here and going fishing.

  12. Great things happen to those that wait! Thank you Carol, Beth and Roger for getting this together. Iknow it was a lot of work. Finding a location with an opening to handle the MTP class of ’73. I look forward to seeing everyone and helping any way I can. See everyone in AUGUST!!!
    Patty
